Rather a tedious book, really. I ended up skimming much of it. A fair amount of foreshadowing how the titular date was epic, and the climax did nothing for me, and seemed to be not all that epochal for the plot either.

Lots of data dump, and while the universe is deeply rooted, I did not care about the characters, and the weakness of the ending bored me.
